The 2025/26 season has ended. Once the 2026/27 calendar is published you'll be able to simulate the new season here.

About the Championship 2025/26 simulator

The EFL Championship is the second tier of English football and one of the most demanding leagues in the world: 24 teams play 46 matchdays in a long double round-robin competition. The top two are automatically promoted to the Premier League, sides finishing third to sixth enter the promotion play-offs for the final spot, and the bottom three are relegated to League One.

This simulator lets you recreate the whole season and anticipate the outcome of one of the most unpredictable leagues around. Set every result, follow the race for automatic promotion, build the play-offs, and see who avoids the drop. Replay matchdays, tweak scorelines, and explore every path to the Premier League.

How to simulate the Championship

  1. 1Work through all 46 matchdays and call every fixture of the home-and-away schedule.
  2. 2Set each scoreline yourself or let the simulator draw it, with 3 points awarded per win.
  3. 3Track who holds the top two automatic spots and who slips into 22nd place or below.
  4. 4Once the top six are locked, build the two-legged semi-finals and the Wembley final.

Frequently asked questions

How many games are in a Championship season?

Each of the 24 clubs plays 46 matchdays over a double round-robin (23 at home, 23 away), one of the longest league seasons in world football, and you can settle every one of them in the simulator.

Who goes up automatically to the Premier League?

Only the top two finishers earn automatic promotion. The third and final promotion place is decided separately in the play-offs between the sides ranked third to sixth.

How do the promotion play-offs work?

3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th over two-legged semi-finals; the winners meet in a single final at Wembley, often called the richest game in football.

Who gets relegated, and where to?

The bottom three of the 24 teams drop to League One, the third tier of English football, at the end of the season.

Can I redo a matchday if I do not like the result?

Yes, you can rewrite any scoreline as many times as you want: the table, the automatic-promotion places and the play-off bracket all recalculate instantly.
