About the Ligue 1 2025/26 simulator

Ligue 1 is the top tier of French football and, following its reform, it is now contested by 18 clubs rather than 20. It is played as a double round-robin over 34 matchdays, with three points for a win and one for a draw. Its highest finishers reach the European competitions, while the bottom of the table fights to avoid dropping into Ligue 2.

With this simulator you steer the season however you wish: start from the real table and fixture list and predict matchday by matchday. Change one result and the standings recalculate instantly, showing you live the Champions League places, the European spots and the relegation places to Ligue 2.

How to simulate Ligue 1

  1. 1Work through the 34 matchdays of the slimmed-down 18-club format and set the score of every fixture; each side plays 17 games at home and 17 away.
  2. 2Use auto-simulation to settle the remaining matchdays in one go, or hand-pick the results for PSG, Marseille, Monaco and Lyon one match at a time.
  3. 3Keep an eye on the European cut-off at the top and, at the foot, on the two automatic relegation places to Ligue 2 plus the 16th spot that goes into the relegation play-off.
  4. 4Close out all 34 rounds, crown your Ligue 1 champion and share your final table.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Ligue 1 now have 18 teams instead of 20?

From the 2023/24 season the French league cut its number of clubs to 18, so the calendar dropped from 38 to 34 matchdays in a double round-robin.

How does relegation to Ligue 2 work?

The bottom two clubs go down automatically to Ligue 2 and the 16th-placed side plays a promotion/relegation play-off against a second-division team.

Which positions earn a European place?

The leading teams share the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League berths; in the simulator those zones are highlighted at the top of the standings.

What tie-breakers separate two teams on equal points?

The table applies overall goal difference first and then goals scored, and you will see the order recalculate the moment you edit any result.

Can I simulate a full season without signing up?

Yes: you enter all 34 matchdays for the 18 teams with no account, and you can redo the scores as many times as you like.
