About the Copa Sudamericana 2026 simulator

The CONMEBOL Sudamericana is the continent's second club tournament and a springboard towards continental glory. It opens with a 32-team group stage split into 8 groups of four: the eight group winners advance straight to the round of 16, while the runners-up enter a knockout play-off against the eight third-placed teams dropping down from the Libertadores groups.

With this simulator you run the tournament end to end: enter the group stage, settle the access play-off and complete the bracket over two legs. Decide draws on penalties and take your team all the way to the single-match final at a neutral venue.

How to simulate the Sudamericana

  1. 1Enter the matches in the 8 groups: only the winner of each group goes straight through to the round of 16, so every point in the fight for second matters.
  2. 2Build the access play-off by pairing the eight runners-up with the eight third-placed sides dropping in from the Libertadores; the eight winners join the round of 16.
  3. 3Settle the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals over two legs, sending any tie level on aggregate straight to a penalty shootout.
  4. 4Play the grand final as a single match at a neutral venue and lift the continent's second crown.

Frequently asked questions

What sets the Sudamericana apart from the Libertadores?

It is South America's second club tournament: it gathers teams that did not make the Libertadores and welcomes the third-placed sides dropping out of its groups, with a final of its own as a single match.

Why don't the group winners play the play-off?

To reward finishing first: the eight group winners go straight to the round of 16, while the runners-up must win the access play-off to join them.

What happens if a tie ends level on aggregate?

In this simulator there is no extra time: any two-legged tie level on aggregate is settled straight away in a penalty shootout.

Is the final two-legged?

No. The final is a single match at a neutral venue; only the earlier rounds, from the round of 16 to the semi-finals, are played over two legs.
