UEFA Nations League 2026/27 Simulator
The 2026/27 UEFA Nations League is the fifth edition of the competition and brings together 54 European national teams split into four tiers by strength. Leagues A, B and C have sixteen teams each in four groups of four, while League D is made up of six teams in two groups of three, for fourteen groups in all: A1 to A4, B1 to B4, C1 to C4 and groups D1 and D2. Teams in Leagues A, B and C play six matches, home and away against each rival, while League D sides play four. The league phase kicks off on 24 September 2026 and ends on 17 November.
This simulator shows all fourteen groups with their standings and lets you play with the results however you like. Frequently asked questions
When is the 2026/27 Nations League played?
The league phase runs across three windows: 24 to 29 September 2026, 1 to 6 October and 12 to 17 November. The League A quarter-finals are played from 25 to 30 March 2027 and the finals from 9 to 13 June 2027.
How do promotion and relegation work?
Group winners in Leagues B, C and D go up automatically, and the bottom side in each League A and League B group goes down automatically. The third-placed teams in A and B face the runners-up from the division below in two-legged play-offs in March 2027, while the League C and League D play-offs are held in March 2028.
How is the champion decided?
The winners and runners-up of the four League A groups go through to two-legged quarter-finals in March 2027. The four winners then meet at the finals in June 2027, with semi-finals, a third-place play-off and the final. The host country is chosen by the UEFA Executive Committee, preferably from among those four teams.
Does it count towards EURO 2028 qualifying?
Yes, indirectly. This edition is linked to EURO 2028 qualifying: the best-ranked Nations League group winners who do not qualify through the qualifying groups go into the play-offs in March 2028. The Nations League ranking is also used for the qualifying draw, set for 6 December 2026 in Belfast. It has no bearing on World Cup qualifying.
Who won the previous editions?
Portugal won the first edition in 2019, France took the 2021 title, Spain won in 2023 and Portugal won again in 2025, beating Spain on penalties in the final in Munich. Portugal are the holders and the only two-time winners.
Which teams are in League A?
Group A1 has France, Italy, Belgium and Türkiye; A2 has Germany, the Netherlands, Serbia and Greece; A3 has Spain, Croatia, England and Czechia; and A4 has Portugal, Denmark, Norway and Wales.
